Topic: Tires needed for my daughter's 1973

My daughter just picked up a 1973, and need to replace all of the tires before she moves it, and she has not been able to locate the correct size, she is being told that no ones now makes the 16.5 tires, so any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

If not the same tire what would be a modern tire that would provide the same rating that would be easier for her to locate.

Change the 16.5 to 16". We used Stockton Wheel Service and they were very good. Now we have radials and can find the new size everywhere!

Hi,
Denman Tire shows 16.5" tires avaiable, but they are bias not radial.  I think the Budd rims on the Revcons were designed for bias only.
Denman says they are light commercial truck tires but the load capacities are OK for a flat nose.  They come in widths from 8.00 to 12.0" with various plies. I would go with the highest ply rating.

In the long run you would be better off by switching to 16" rims, but this might work for a quick fix.

Good Luck,
Harry
